Fruit Corners Fruit Bars (General Mills, 1985)

Before Fruit Roll-Ups, this was one way consumers ate fruit. Fruit Bars were bars of jellied fruit.

Advertising centered around the fact that the bars were ugly. This was their slogan: “Made from real fruit so your taste buds shout, look so ugly they’re gonna knock you out!” The most memorable thing about the bars were not their appearance, but the DEVO-esque homage in their commercials.

Flavors of the Fruit Bars were strawberry, orange, pineapple, grape, tropical fruit and cherry. When Fruit Roll-Ups took off, Fruit Bars disappeared.
