Chinese Checkers
Chinese Checkers is a strategy
board game played by two to 6 players, played individually or in teams. The objective is to be the
first to get across the hexagram-shaped board into home, the corner star opposite from the corner you started from. You can only move forward in single steps or by
jumping over opponent’s pieces. Chinese Checkers is a simplified modern version of the game Halma.
Chinese Checkers was invented in Germany in 1892, originally known as “Stern-Halma.” (“Stern” means “star.”) “Chinese Checkers” originated in the U.S. in 1928 from the company Pressman who called the game “Hop Ching Checkers.” The Japanese turned Chinese-speaking countries onto the game.
