Natina Reed (October 28, 1979 – October 26, 2012)
Natina Reed was a member of the R&B trio Blaque (best known for their single, Bring it All to Me). Reed was the protege of the late rapper Lisa Lopes (of TLC).
In 2001, Reed became engaged to rapper Kurupt. After Blaque was dropped by Columbia, it was just after Lopes’ April 2002 death, that Blaque was signed to Elektra Records. Reed gave birth to a son, Tren Brown.
Their third album Torch was shelved indefinitely. In 2004, Reed went into the ministry. Before she could do much else, the original Blaque members re-formed. (Reed had been replaced by Erica Pullins for a few months.) Despite continuing to record, perform, even trying out reality TV pitches and releasing material via the Internet, the girls failed to re-capture the public’s attention.
On October 26, 2012, Reed was crossing the road (U.S. Highway 29) while talking on the phone when she was struck by a car. No charges were laid against the driver of that car.
The girls of Blaque appeared in the cheerleading film Bring it On in 2000. Reed was the cousin of one of the former original Destiny’s Child member Farrah Franklin.
