Room With a View (Arista Nashville, 2001)
Canadian country star Carolyn Dawn Johnson released her debut album Room With a View in August 2001. The album was certified Gold in Canada and produced the singles Georgia, Complicated, I Don’t Want You to Go and One Day Closer To You. Room With A View peaked on Billboard’s Country chart at #8 and was Arista Nashville’s highest debuting album by a new country artist of the year. Georgia reached #25; Complicated peaked at #5 and I Don’t Want You to Go peaked at #7 all on the U.S. country chart. Complicated and I Don’t Want to Go were Johnson’s highest charting American singles.
Perhaps you don’t know who Johnson is but you’ve probably heard of Chely Wright’s 1999 hit single, Single White Female? Johnson wrote that. It went to #1 in September 1999 on the U.S. country chart and scored Johnson her recording contract.
