Bad of the Heart George Lamond (Columbia, 1990)
Born George Garcia in February 1967 in Washington, D.C., Lamond moved back to his parents’ native Puerto Rico at age 2. At 7, his family moved back to the U.S. and landed in the Bronx. Lamond sang backup before he landed his own deal with Columbia Records. In 1990, he released his debut album and single, Bad of the Heart. (The single reached #25 on the Hot 100.) Later that year, Lamond dueted with Brenda K. Starr for No Matter What which went to #49 on the Hot 100.
Subsequent albums failed to make an impact on the charts. Lamond continued recording and performing. His most recent album came in 2006, Oye Mi Canto. His latest single was 2009’s Something About You. Currently, he lives on Staten Island with his three sons.
