Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was a British musical adventure fantasy film written by author Roald Dahl and Ken Hughes (who also directed the film) and was based loosely on Ian Fleming’s 1964 novel Chitty Chitty Bang Bang: The Magical Car. The film starred Dick Van Dyke, Sally Ann Howes, Lionel Jeffries, James Robertson Justice and Robert Helmann. The title song was nominated for an Oscar.
