Watergate Salad (Midwestern U.S.)

Watergate Salad goes by many names: Green Goddess, Pistachio Delight, Shut the Gate Salad, Green Goop, Green Fluff or Green Stuff. Whatever you call it, it is a side dish salad or dessert salad made from pistachio pudding, canned pineapple, whipped topping, crushed pecans and (mini) marshmallows. It is very quick to prepare and can be chilled if necessary (or desired). It is a popular bring-along to potlucks. Though the origin of the name Watergate Salad is obscure, what is known is it originated from General Foods (which has merged into what is now Kraft Heinz).
