The Bear Who Slept Through Christmas (NBC, 1973)

The Bear Who Slept Through Christmas was an animated Christmas TV special that aired on NBC December 17, 1973. It was produced by DePatie-Freleng Enterprises, featured the voices of Tommy Smothers, Arte Johnson and Barbara Feldon and was narrated by Casey Kasem. The plot focuses on Theodore Edward Bear (Ted E. Bear for short) who is curious about Christmas. He decides to go hunting for it instead of hibernating like the other bears. In the early 1980s a plush Ted E. Bear was sold in stores. In October 1983 Ted E. Bear returned for a Halloween special, The Great Bear Scare.
