Beds Are Burning (Columbia, 1987)

Beds Are Burning was the second single off Australian rock band Midnight Oil’s sixth studio album Diesel and Dust. It remains one of their most known songs outside Australia. Beds Are Burning was a #1 single in New Zealand, South Africa and Canada. It hit #3 in the Netherlands; #5 in France; #6 in the UK and Australia; #11 in Ireland and #17 in the U.S. and Sweden. In May 2001 celebrating their 75th anniversary, the APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association) named Beds Are Burning the third Best Australian Song of All Time. (It was behind Friday on My Mind by the Easybeats and Eagle Rock by Daddy Cool.)
