Bonafide (Epic, 1995)

Bonafide was R&B singer/songwriter Jon B’s debut album. Prior to his own music, he had been a long time songwriter for earlier 90s stars, including Toni Braxton and Color Me Badd. On Bonafide, Jon B wanted to prove that he could make a success out of his own work. Why he didn’t just sing his own stuff from the beginning, I can’t figure out. Bonafide quickly went Platinum off the strength of the Grammy-nominated lead single Someone to Love, a duet with R&B powerhouse singer/songwriter/mega-producer Babyface. Other singles included Pretty Girl and Isn’t it Scary.
