Concrete Rose (Def Jam/Murder Inc., 2004)
Concrete Rose was the third studio album by American R&B singer Ashanti. Concrete Rose debuted at #7 in December 2004 and was certified Platinum a month later in January 2005. Outside the U.S., Concrete Rose peaked at #25 in the UK, #98 in France, #35 in Germany and #66 in Switzerland.
Two singles were released: Only U and Don’t Let Them. Only U hit #13 in the U.S. (#10 on the R&B chart), went top 5 in the UK and Ireland, top ten in Japan, top twenty in New Zealand, Switzerland, Germany and top forty in Australia and France. Issues between Murder Inc and Def Jam delayed the release of the second single. They eventually gave Ashanti the choice between Don’t Let Them or Don’t Leave Them Alone. Ashanti went with her personal favorite, Don’t Let Them. She also went out of her own pocket for the music video. It was only released in the U.S. and failed to chart. Don’t Let Them was never promoted by the label.
