New Romance (It’s a Mystery) Spider (Dreamland, 1980)
Spider was an American rock band formed in 1977. They released two albums via Dreamland and had several moderate hits. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1980 and their follow-up, Between the Lines was released in 1981. They disbanded in 1984. Keyboardist Holly Knight went on to become a successful songwriter. Drummer Anton Fig played in Paul Shaffer’s band on The Late Night with David Letterman.
Their highest charting single (their only top 40 hit) was their debut single, New Romance (It’s a Mystery). It peaked at #39 in the U.S. Their final single (which failed to chart for them) became a hit for Tina Turner, Better Be Good to Me.
