Lemur Street (Animal Planet International, 2007)

Lemur Street was a British documentary series produced by Oxford Scientific Films for Animal Planet International. It was based on the successful format of Meerkat Manor (2005). Lemur Street premiered November 20, 2007 and ran for 20 episodes, ending on February 4, 2008. Martin Shaw narrated the nature documentary.

On February 8, 2008 in the U.S., Lemur Street was renamed Lemur Kingdom and ran for 14 episodes, ending on May 9. In Canada the series ran from February 13, 2008 to May 31 on TVO.

Lemur Street/Lemur Kingdom focused on two competing matriarchal ring-tailed lemur troops living in the Berenty Reserves on the island of Madagascar. This series is reported to be the first professionally recorded footage of a ring-tailed lemur giving birth.

The UK and U.S. versions of the series were generally the same, though the U.S. cut some episodes and tweaked or outright changed some of the names of the lemurs.

In the UK, Lemur Street was released on a three-disc DVD set in September 2008.
