Dark Shadows — The Game (Whitman, 1968)

Based on the 1960s ABC afternoon drama series, Dark Shadows, this board game was a race game, where players had to go from one end of the board to the other. You put your token on the start and are dealt four cards. On your turn, you draw another card in which you can play and try to move your token forward or stay put and discard. To move forward you need to match a card to the square, either by symbol (bat, dagger, spider or poison goblet), by color (red or black) and/or by number (1 or 2). The board had short cuts which can be accessed by a vampire (or Barnabas) card. This created the main element of strategy. Do you save up your cards and go the long way around or shortcut it to try to reach the finish line? Dark Shadows — The Game was suitable for 2 to 4 players and is a rare find.
