Summer School (Paramount, 1987)

Summer School was a 1987 comedy film directed by Carl Reiner. High school gym teacher Freddy Shoop (Mark Harmon) is all set to go off to Hawaii for summer vacation. Instead, he has to teach remedial English after the original teacher wins
the lottery. Since Shoop can’t teach them, they end up goofing off. Vice Principal Phil Gills
(Robin Thomas) threatens to fire Shoop if the students don’t pass the end-of-term test. Can Shoop buckle down and teach? Will the students actually study?
Summer School also stars Kirstie Alley, Courtney Thorne-Smith
and Shawnee Smith.

Summer School grossed over $35 million U.S. and was the 32nd highest grossing film of 1987. A 20th Anniversary special edition was released May 22, 2007.
