ThunderCats (Rankin/Bass Productions, 1985)

The ThunderCats followed the adventures of a
group of catlike humanoid aliens. Originally the series was produced by Rankin/Bass Productions and animated by the Japanese studio Pacific Animation Corporation. The ThunderCats were based on characters created by Tobin “Ted” Wolf. The ThunderCats had several comic book series, first in 1984 to 1988 with Marvel, then in 2003 with Wildstorm, an imprint of DC comics. In 2007 it was announced that a CGI-animated ThunderCats movie would be produced and set for a summer 2010 release. That movie has been put on hold.

ThunderCats aired for 5 seasons and 130 episodes. Voices were provided by Larry Kenney, Earle Hyman, Earl Hammond, Peter Newman, Lynne Lipton, Bob McFadden, Gerrianne Raphael and Doug Preis.

In 2011 ThunderCats was rebooted for the Cartoon Network. The series failed to catch on and was cancelled after one season.
