Light Up the Night (A&M, 1980)

Light Up the Night was the fourth studio album by the L.A.-based funk/R&B sibling
duo The Brothers Johnson. (George “Lightnin Licks” and Louis “Thunder Thumbs”).
Light Up the Night hit #5 on the Pop chart and #1 on the R&B chart. Three singles were released: Stomp!, Light Up the Night and Treasure. Stomp! hit #7 on the Hot 100 and #1 on both the R&B and dance charts. Light Up the Night hit #16 on the R&B chart. Treasure hit #73 on the Hot 100 and #36 on the R&B chart.

The album was their highest charting album on the Pop album chart and was their third (and final) to peak at the top of the R&B album chart. (Their debut album Look Out for #1 and their third album Blam! were the other two albums.) Light Up the Night was their fourth (and final) album to reach a Platinum certification. In fact, of their seven albums, the first five all peaked in the Top 10 on the R&B album chart. (Their sixth album, 1984’s Out of Control peaked at #20 and their final album, 1998’s Kickin failed to hit any chart.)
