Tron Electronic Game (TomyTronic, 1981)
Made in Japan, this electronic game was based on the film, Tron (Disney, 1982). In the film, Jeff Bridges stars as Kevin Flynn, a computer programmer transported into the software world of a mainframe computer. He has to interact with various programs in an attempt to get back out. Writer and director of the film Steven Lisberger conceived the idea in 1976 after a fascination with the video game Pong.
The electronic game provided three games to play: Light Cycle, Ring Game vs. Sark and Disc vs. MCP. For a challenge, the difficulty steadily increases. The tabletop game ran on 4 “C” batteries or AC adapter. The game is currently for sale on eBay.
