I Like Kut Klose (Elektra, 1995)

In the early 1990s R&B singer Keith Sweat discovered the ladies (Athena Cage, Lavonn Battle and Tabitha Duncan) of Kut Klose. He tested the waters with the group in 1994 with the duet Get Up On It. The song hit #12 on the R&B chart (#62 on the Hot 100). He produced their debut album Surrender in 1995. They released three singles: Surrender, Lovely Thang and I Like. The debut single, I Like took the girls to #8 on the R&B chart (#34 on the Hot 100). The other two singles were minor R&B hits (peaking around #50).

In 1996, Cage teamed up with Sweat for Twisted. They went to the top of the R&B chart (#2 on the Hot 100). Yet Kut Klose still decided to take a break. In 2007, they came back together again for Sweat’s Sweat Hotel Live project. In September 2010 they released Let it Ring as a buzz single for their follow-up album to Surrender. The single obviously didn’t create enough buzz (it didn’t chart anywhere) because the album still hasn’t been released.
