Into the Skyline (Polydor, 1992)

Into the Skyline was English dance artist Cathy Dennis’ second studio album. Her debut album, 1990’s Move to This was certified Gold in both Canada and the UK, selling over 1 million copies worldwide. Unfortunately, Into the Skyline didn’t perform as well. Into the Skyline was aimed toward the American market.

Into the Skyline spawned the singles You Lied to Me, Irresistible, Moments of Love, Falling and Why. You Lied to Me was a top 40 Hot 100 hit in the U.S., Irresistible was an Adult Contemporary Top Ten hit, but the album quickly descended the album charts after this. For a brief time, Dennis had some American exposure (and was everywhere), parlaying it into a cameo appearance on a Beverly Hills, 90210 episode.

In the UK, Into the Skyline peaked at #8 on the Album chart.

Dennis’ last studio album was in 1996, Am I the Kinda Girl?. She continued recording but has found more success writing for other artists — Can’t Get You Out of My Head by Kylie Minogue, Toxic by Britney Spears, I Kissed a Girl by Katy Perry are just a smattering.
