Lionheart Kate Bush (EMI, 1978)

Kate Bush started off 1978 with the release of her debut album, The Kick Inside. It peaked at #3 on the UK Album chart, was certified Platinum and spawned a number one single, Wuthering Heights. Her record label, EMI, pushed her for her sophormore album a mere nine months later.

Lionheart reached (only) #6 on the UK Album chart. It gets the dubious distinction of being, of her ten studio albums, the only album to peak outside of the Top 5 on the UK Album chart. Lionheart was certified Platinum and has been called one of the worst albums of the 1970s.

Bush was unhappy with the length of time given to work on the album. Lionheart was recorded in Nice, France (her only album recorded outside her native UK). Even today, Bush is still unhappy with the album, but is proud considering how little time she was given to work on it.

The first single, Hammer Horror reached #44 in the UK, but hit #10 in Ireland. Wow hit #14 in the UK. Symphony in Blue was released as single tracks in both Japan and Canada, but failed to hit any major chart.
