Don’t Make Me Over Sybil (Plateau, 1989)

In 1962, a song by Burt Bacharach and Hal David entitled Don’t Make Me Over started the career of American singer Dionne Warwick. Warwick took the song to #21 on the Hot 100 and #5 on the R&B chart. This song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2000.

In 1989, American R&B singer Sybil released a new jack swing version of the song. Sybil’s version went to #20 on the Hot 100 and #2 on the R&B chart. She also took the single to #19 in the UK.

Sybil continues to perform and record. Her most recent album, Still a Thrill, was released in December 1997.
