GatorGum (early 1980s)
Around the early 1980s (possibly even beginning in the late 1970s), the makers of Gatorade made a gum. There were two flavors that were widely available — green (lemon/lime flavor) and orange. There was also a fruit punch flavor that was available in certain markets. It did indeed taste like the sports drink Gatorade, though consumers complained that the flavor only lasted for a short time and was quite rubbery tasting after that. Other consumers describe the taste as akin to Sour Patch Kids. Official reports say the gum was discontinued in 1989, but consumers were still purchasing in into the 1990s, the last sighting being in 1993.
