Alley-Oop by the Hollywood Argyles (Lute, 1960)
The Hollywood Argyles were an American musical ensemble that were assembled for studio recordings by songwriter/producer Kim Fowley and musician Gary Paxton.
Originally Alley-Oop was written as a country tune for Dallas Frazier. But the Hollywood Argyles changed it to a rock and roll song and hit #1 in the U.S. in 1960.
At the same time, two other bands, Dante and the Evergreens and the Dyna-Sores each had their own versions of Alley-Oop, but neither of these versions cracked the Top 10.
