King Ralph (Universal, 1991)
King Ralph is an American comedy film that is loosely based on the novel Headlong by Emlyn Williams.
The plot: The entire ruling family of the UK is electrocuted while posing for a family photograph. The government sends courtier Sir Cedric Willingham (Peter O’Toole) to find any surviving heirs to take the crown. They locate Ralph Jones (John Goodman), a Las Vegas lounge performer. Ralph flies to London and begins the process that will turn him into a proper monarch.
The film became a minor box office hit, debuting at number three over their opening weekend.
