Leisure suits are casual suits made up of a shirt-like jacket with matching pants. They originated from the American west coast during the late 1930s as casual summer wear of the wealthy and were made from lightweight fabrics. With the creation and popularization of other 70s fads (polyester and disco), leisure suits hit their stride in popularity; they became fashionable, inexpensive suits that could be worn in or out of the office. Like all true fads, by the next decade, leisure suits were out. Now, they are forever remembered as a 70s fad.
